I first met Lisa, and her entire family, two years ago as a bridesmaid at her sister Allison’s wedding. When Lisa and Stephen met with me in my Birmingham showroom a year ago, I was thrilled. Not only because I was honored to be their photographer, nor because it was being held at one of my favorite Michigan venues, The Detroit Athletic Club, but mostly because I have become very fond of the Dold family! They are a terrific group of people, with warm hearts, full of love and laughter, and they definitely know how to throw a party!
Lisa and Stephen’s wedding finally arrived, and as expected, it was one terrific wedding! With the exception of Lisa getting ready at her parent’s home in nearby Grosse Pointe, the entire event took place at the historic D.A.C. The club has everything for a first class event: a hotel for guests, ornate architecture, marble floors, beautiful paintings throughout, gorgeous ballrooms, and Michigan’s finest catering. It is a jewel in the heart of Detroit’s entertainment district and overlooks neighboring Comerica Park from it’s rooftop – a favorite location to do a few romantic portraits with the city lights glowing in the background.
As expected, the wedding day was one of my more memorable weddings of the year! Lisa and Stephen were carefree and wonderful! They were a joy to photograph the entire day through. They and their friends and families gave me ample opportunities to capture meaningful and heartfelt moments! Also, their vendor selection was a huge reason for the day’s success! In addition to hiring one of my favorite Detroit area bands, The Sun Messangers, Lisa and Stephen contracted what I like to call Detroit’s “A” Team:
Carolyn Hefner of the China Closet and her wedding planning staff
Ralph Bellisario of Bellisario Florists
Alex Bitof of Fifth and Main Productions (Video)
