Monica and Suraj are a wonderful couple! I had the opportunity to photograph them for their Engagement Session earlier in the Spring and found them to be warm, friendly, genuine and happy! We spent time then on a hot day in downtown Birmingham, wandering the streets and finding photo opportunities! It was such a successful shoot that they did something no other client of mine had done before: had us make a slideshow of the images that was presented to all their guests at the reception. It worked out so well, I encourage my future clients to consider doing the same! Monica is such a planner! She brought along two items that she was going to use on her wedding day: an umbrella that her bridesmaids would carry, and a bottle of bubbles that would be used for her and Suraj’s sendoff after their wedding ceremony. Both items were used in their engagement photos, and again on the wedding day!
The celebration weekend finally arrived at the end of July. I usually do not have the opportunity to photograph the Sangeet the night before the wedding (my second photographer normally photographs this event), but I was able to get into town early enough. Monica is a dancer (I think professionally) and a choreographer. She did multiple performances for her guests and for Suraj. The photo above is from the Sangeet and such a beautiful capture that I could not resist adding it to this blog post!
This wedding was celebrated entirely at the Westin in Southfield, Michigan, and was my first there. It is a wonderful location for a wedding with a beautiful atrium that provides a very unique setting. It is perfect for the unpredictable weather Michigan is famous for. This was a weekend that was hot and humid, with occasional rain. So everyone could enjoy a garden setting with comfortable air conditioning! The day, from beginning to end, was a joy to photograph as was working with their wedding planner, Rajul of Blissful Weddings and Events. I have had the opportunity now to work with this great planner many times and she and her staff coordinate events among Metro Detroit’s very best!
Of course, the day could not have been the complete success it was without the expertise of the following excellent vendors:
Mandap & Lighting: Colonial Events
Floral: Bellisario Florist
Cake: Sweet Dreams Bakery
Dj: RDX Productions (Robby)
Linens: Linens & Beyond
Video: Fifth & Main productions
Hairstylist: Hairs 2 you
Makeup Artist: Amanie Mokdad
