Andrea and Darren’s wedding is definitely a wedding I would have regretted not booking. You can see for yourself how wonderful a wedding it was with the photos shown here on this post! You can also view their entire highlight slideshow by clicking >>>>>HERE<<<<<
There is a funny story that I have to share about how Andrea and Darren became my clients. My assistant in Michigan, Nicole, was shopping at the mall one day last year and was standing in the checkout line of Victoria Secret with a woman she had never met until that moment. They struck up a conversation and the woman, Penelope Francis, went on to tell Nicole that she was a wedding planner, just having moved to Michigan from San Francisco. She was planning a wedding for her nephew and was in need of a wedding photographer! Nicole, to her surprise, explained that she was an assistant to a wedding photographer and showed Penelope my website via her iPhone. From there, it was mostly a matter if my style was to the liking of Andrea and Darren. Obviously they liked my work or you would not even be reading this blog post! I share this story because of how it typifies the way I go about finding potential clients. Word of mouth advertising is a big, big factor, but this is what I would call “word of mouth with a twist!” I am so happy and thankful that Nicole and Penelope crossed paths unexpectedly that day!
The entire wedding day was staged at the beautiful Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan. I have photographed weddings at this venue many, many times, so I knew we were in for a treat! What made this a little unique was that the ceremony was held at the hotel in their glassed ceiling Conservatory. It was also the first Orthodox Christian wedding I have ever photographed outside an actual Orthodox Church building. I love Orthodox Christian weddings with their beautiful ceremonies and traditions, so capturing one in the sunlit conservatory was a unique opportunity and fantastic for photos. The photo above, with both of the mothers helping stretch out Andrea’s veil with the sunlight bouncing off of the lace is one of my favorite photos this year!
The Royal Park Hotel has it all… Exquisite suites for the couple to get ready and to have hair and makeup artists do their thing, beautiful grounds for outdoor photos, a magnificent conservatory and ballroom for celebrating the ceremony and reception. The Simone Vitale Band provided the evening’s entertainment, and as always, were above and beyond exceptional! There are not many others that can put on a show like Simone and keep the guests on the dance floor!
A couple of other notable vendors to mention are the video team and florist. It was a pleasure working with MBP Films for the first time and the guys were extremely professional! Breath of Spring provided all the floral arrangements and their work speaks for itself. Check out the slideshow link above to see more photos of their decorations! As always my second photographer, David Yarnall, provided great images to help accentuate my own work and to add to the story of this beautiful wedding!
