If I were to describe Maggie, Tom and their family and friends in one word….I would have to say “FUN”!!!! (Although many other words such as kind, caring, classy, detailed, and thoughtful also come to mind!)
The day was already unfolding for the bride and groom and their respective parties as we arrived at the beautiful grounds of Zingerman’s Cornman farms. The ladies were having their hair and makeup done in the beautiful estate house, and It was a great setting for us to capture many beautiful moments with them, and also as a “first look” setting for Maggie’s father to see her for the first time! (You will see this adorable moment a few photos in to the story.) Maggie was wearing a stunning strapless gown with a beautiful silk bow from Mimi’s bridal boutique in Ann Arbor~ she looked radiant!
The ceremony was held on the lawn in front of the estate….a beautiful day for such a picturesque wedding! Maggie’s dad proudly walked his gorgeous daughter down the aisle to Tom, who was grinning from ear to ear seeing his beautiful bride approaching. The rings were brought down the aisle by an adorable golden lab (perhaps retriever?) so sweet and well behaved!!! It was a perfectly planned, personal, and emotional ceremony!
After the ceremony and perhaps a quick beverage, the guests entered the beautifully decorated dining tent. Let me just say, Zingerman’s is a foodie’s dream! We (the photography team) were treated to the same meals as the guests were enjoying, and they were amazing! I’m sure it is a challenge to cook for a large number of guests and maintain the quality of fine dining, but the food and service were amazing!! There were very touching toasts done by the bridesmaids and groomsmen, parents, and the bride and groom themselves.
Maggie and Tom enjoyed their first dance on the patio of the converted farmhouse with the guests waving sparklers as they watched the happy couple. Then we retreated in to the upstairs area for the dancing ….. there were a few traditional dances, father/daughter, mother/son, and an “anniversary” dance as well. Now, up until this time, this blog seems to be all about Maggie (after all, the bride is who everyone is watching, right?) 😉 When we first met Maggie and Tom for their engagement photos, they seemed to be sweet, quiet, and even slightly shy (?!?!) We quickly knew shortly after the start of the session that they were NOT shy, and were super fun and outgoing (yet still super sweet)! Add to this, Tom and Maggie on the dance floor, and the party was started! Tom did his full on rendition of “Thriller” (as apparently he is quite famous for) and there was not one single person who wasn’t in the circle around the dance floor watching him! The entire group of friends and family were a BLAST, and we were lucky enough to have an “encore” about a month later as we photographed one of Maggie’s beautiful bridesmaid’s wedding. We joked with all of them that they should be for hire to future couples in getting their parties started and the dance floor MOVING!!! :-))))
Thank you, Maggie and Tom, for the honor of choosing us to document your wedding day! You gave us so many beautiful things, people, and moments to work with, and we are so pleased with how your wedding “story” transpired in photographs! We wish you the best in your new life together!!!!
