When we arrived at The Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor to greet the “cast,” excitement was already in the air as the long awaited “production’ starring Laura and Evan was about to enjoy it’s opening act!
We began the day backstage as Laura and Evan were enjoying some primping, socializing, laughing and bonding with their respective parties. Laura’s co-stars donned beautiful navy floor length dresses, while Evan and his crew wore handsome grey suits with coral accent boutonnieres. Ray was able to capture fun moments between each of the parties, and some especially sweet moments between Laura and her father….When he saw her for the first time in her dress there was not a dry eye in the house! Time flew by and very soon it was time for “lights, camera, ACTION!”
What a magical and unique location Laura and Evan chose for their wedding ceremony! As the groomsmen and bridal party made their way down the theater aisle, one felt as if they were part of the production! The stage was set as Evan anxiously awaited as his stunning bride was escorted to the stage by her father. There, they exchanged their heartfelt vows in a very sweet and personalized ceremony preformed by The Honorable Scott Hill-Kennedy. There were also readings by sisters Jennifer and Jennie.
After the happy couple was pronounced man and wife, Laura and Evan stole a few moments alone on the balcony in the theater lobby, while the guests gathered below. A beautiful grand staircase provided a dramatic backdrop, as the happy couple descended into a parting sea of excited guests waving streamers in their honor. Ray and Nicole were able to get some great shots of the wedding party in front to the theater where their names were on proud display on the Marquis! (At one point I saw Ray lying in the middle of the street stopping traffic to get the perfect angle, as he does! Anything to get the shot, he will do it!!! ;-))))
The wedding party then boarded a coach to be driven to The Nichols Arboretum to do a few formal family portraits and enjoy a bit of afternoon sun…. After the portraits were finished, the group were driven to the Michigan League where the cocktail hour was in full swing, and the wedding party finally was able to join in. This gave Ray and Nicole not only a chance to catch fun photos of the happy guests, but also capture some detailed photos of the reception room that were so carefully thought out and perfectly executed. The room looked amazing as the guests filed in to be seated for dinner!
Finally the time had come for DJ of Detroit DJ Entertainment to announce the wedding party and the newlyweds! They danced in to a standing ovation and thus began the evening festivities! And festive it was!!! Let me tell you, this crowd was filled with a LOT of fun people!!!! Because we had met many of these folks at the wedding of one of Laura’s best friends and bridesmaids a few weeks earlier, we had an idea of what we were in store for! They did not disappoint!!!! From the toasts to the special “surprise” performances, every bit of the evening was personal, heartfelt, and I know made Laura and Evan feel the love that these guests have for them! They are a very special couple with amazing families and friends, and we are honored to have been chosen to document and share in their wedding day!
